Hunting

  • Dec. 5th, 2008 at 3:36 PM

Currently obsessed with hunting down sheet music xD

The minute I find Barcarolle by Chopin, I'll shoot it down with a mouse click!

Hunting:

Toccata in G BW916 by Bach (This one can wait...)
Scherzo in C# minor op. 39 by Chopin
Etude op.25 No. 5 & No. 7 by Chopin (I think I've got a lead on these)
Barcarolle op.60 by Chopin
Nocturne in E-flat op.55 in No.2 (pending capture...think I have it in my book somewhere...)

And I'm also hunting for some conductor scores like a few Mozart concertos that I can't remember the name of (darn it)...

Till the next rare entry :D *dons a hunting cap*

I like this mix =D Also makes me think of Maksim's Toccata and Fugue

Updatez again!

  • Nov. 1st, 2008 at 10:54 AM

Another rare update...yay...

It's strange, I've been very active recently and I've never thought of giving an update even once until now. My sister's gonna brick me... =p

Anyway, first up is the musical drama...due to some technical problems in KLPAC, we didn't get to perform at center stage, but we performed instead on the stage at our dear Saxon Conservatoire. Lots of people came for the first and second round (18th october, performed two rounds). The second round had a more enthusiastic audience, I guess most of the kid's parents came on the second round.

The next day, retouched the whole place, fooled around with my friends and banged my wrist against a rack...ouch.

So I guess not much there anymore. What could've been a huge thing suddenly diminished into a school play of sorts just from a few "technical" issues...biased arses. Kidz rule!

Anyway, 18th and 19th october, the musical drama. On monday, 20th october, everyone can let out a breath, but I can't. I had an orchestra performance for the ever-hateful headmistress. I still don't understand how come she gets to celebrate her "last day" with our us for two days... We were never that fond of her in any way at all...
(I'm using the yang qin instead of the di zi since the di zi teacher is filling in for me on that instrument and our last reliable yang qin plater graduated last year)

So, after the performance, can I let out a sigh of relief and say "It's over"?

No.

I had another performance on Friday morning, the next week, thank God. On the same day, Friday night, I had a Halloween party at Saxon's to attend, since the principal's treating me =D
I dressed as a vampire... A very good-looking one, I must brag and feel good about myself 8D!! (although I didn't get myself a pait of those fangs, people said I'm really scary >=]). Come, share my joy! =p (and gawk at the utter crappiness of a 1.3 megapixel camera phone)

Sorry it's a bit greenish, and yeah, that's a huge forehead I have :) And I'm actually beading a sweat or two here because I'm not standing on the floor, I'm pressing my back against the closet (don't mind the bright room) and my pants are a bitch to move around in...

A friend of mine said this one's nice :S Oh wells... And for anyone who stares long and hard enough, I have a waistline of 27 inches =x, that shirt is only jutting out a little because of the buttons.

Anyway, didn't get to take pictures during the party, because my camera doesn't have flash, so I'll ask the teachers who brought a camera to send me some later. =D

I feel bad for our beloved doggies at Saxon's, because they giving the kids the "sad" eyes while I stuffed my face at the buffet table (*cough* yes, 27" waistline*brick'd*).

So here's a shot of two of them so that they don't get left out of the spotlight (took these in the afternoon actually =p) Jazz (a very beautiful Siberian husky, was out on a walk, I'll get her picture next time).

This is Rane, the labroudor. She's very obedient and about th only one in the trio that can do tricks.
Me: "Rane~ Catch the ball or catch the treat? *throws both in front of her face*"
Rane: *catches the treat in her mouth while it's still in midair*
Me: "...*estimating Rane's weight* Fat girl xD *goes to give Rane a belly rub* <3"

Cute huh? This is our Polmeranian Scout....named Scout...The only male dog at Saxon's. Plays a lot with Jazz and tends to go overboard... So I get really worried most of the time when they're together...for various other reasons as well, but he's been ligated.

Excluding the dinner I missed (why am I always the last one to know DX) to celebrate our drama and probably our two soprano leads' (they're siblings) last day with us in Malaysia..T.T (they're going back to Autralia) I guess that's all about Saxons for now.

Okay, so, now the chinese orchestra has a 3RD *dies* performance next thursday. At least this time I get to use the di zi (chinese/eastern flute, just noticed that I didn't bother to explain) since the yang qin's(shall we call it the chinese or eastern piano?) part is nothing but crap and nonsense. (coach's thinking about rewriting it)

So...tomorrow, Sunday, at evening...there's gonna be one last dinner/party/jamuan to attend... The Prefect's Annual Dinner. What I'm very reluctant about, is that everyone must dress in evening formal wear.... DX I have to wear a dress... I'm borrowing one from my elder sister x.x

I like this! It follows the iPod ad very well. But I think you need to be a registered user to watch this video. =x

Updatez, seriously

  • Sep. 3rd, 2008 at 6:54 PM

Okay, another rare entry...

Recently, there have been a lot of camps I've gone to...well, I went for two.

The first one was during the August week-long holiday (but it started on the 19th and ended on the 23rd), and it was held by Saxon. It was fun!

The first day (Tuesday), we went on a trip to a nature park in Selangor, I vaguely recall that the guide saying that the monkeys can be quite aggressive when it comes to snatching food. Well guess what, on the way through the park, a monkey tried to take this small box with some cookies from the yoga teacher, failed and it stopped there when the yoga teacher glared at it, as if it was thinking "Target has spotted me! Plan has failed!"

But, as if it was determined not to go back empty-handed, the monkey ran for an unsuspecting teacher's bag of peanuts. She got a little surprise and dropped the bag, monkey snatched it and ran off under the bush like a ninja... Crafty little bugger...

Anyway, the rest of the walk didn't get so eventful, so I guess it went well. Good thing it was just the peanuts...

The second day until the fifth day was filled with nothing but fun...choir and drama practice. I absolutely love everyone there, the kids especially. Made lots of friends in just one game xD And they all flock to me when they see me drawing and stuff. Ehehe...*sweat*

Well, I only managed to stay over for like two nights instead of all four because of my mom's concern about how I'd become some sort of babysitter....I don't mind. =D But my bro managed to talk to her about it and I got to camp for two nights and two days! Yay!

But on the last day it was really hectic, I had a Community Service project planned out and would be a little late, so I had to supervise through my cellphone. Sigh...my vice can't do anything without my telling her so, good thing my mom was there, but she was a little mad that there wasn't a name list of students who will attend this project...there were only 9, excluding myself.

Drew a picture of thanks for the Sacon teachers on the souvenir notebook from the end of camp talk, got some signatures but had to write a bunch because my drawing took time. We all said goodbye to our choir teacher (who teaches us the fundamentals on the singing and stuff, I think he's a great teacher) because he had to go back to the US as his summer vacation's almost over. He's a college piano student :3 And I'm guessing he's gonna show off to his friends that's why he asked someone to record our tenor and everyone else singing Midnight Into Morning. xD

Okay, the second camp was held by my school(on Saturday and Sunday, Merdeka~) for the uniform clubs like Scouts, Brownies, Red Moon Society (PBSM), TKD and anything else, the school had sponsored for us to go to Ulu Langat Impian Resort for two days and one night for some fun...training... Because I didn't get my t-shirt, won't get it until the second day, I stuck out like a sore thumb, but oh wells, it's nothing much really. At least I can be easily found if I ever get lost xD

The camp was nothing but pure torture. We played games, sure, but after meals and unpacking our stuff, we had to endure some boring or semi-interesting lectures and try to build a fire. When I was set to group with some kids...=X nevermind, I tried to build a fire, problem is, everything we're allowed to use in the clearing was SOAKED! I mean, the coach must be one hell of a genius, telling us to do this right after a downpour. And we only get three effing matches! The wood here didn't even look anything like firewood, judging by the way we're led to this particular clearing...

So I tried a caveman way of lighting a fire, the stick drilling into a log thing. But I guess that was hopeless right from the start, the log was wet, of course, and there were lifeforms crawling out of the log when I was drilling through the dang thing. Plus, the physics teacher came over to ask wth I was doing, told her that this was some sort of caveman way of lighting a fire that I learned watching some documentary shows... She said she thinks that's not a way to light a fire and I thought "Are you a really a physics teacher?" I'll ask her for her teacher's license when I get the chance...

Well, after learning how to use a compass, we were gathered together to do drils, and then after that, obstacles. The jungle is not a very delightful place to be after rain...

Had to scale a 2m, I think, cement wall (two people working together, so I guess it was easy enough), scraped my elbows from using a crawling method I learned from Cadet Kelly (watch Disney), and hop over four more cemented bricks. Easy enough since it was quite short, but I had to landed on my toes because there wasn't enough space for my entire foot.

Next, grappling, or is it called repelling...who cares. I was one of the unlucky ones to end up with a very difficult route to climb. I held on to the rope for dear life, hopped a bit to steady myself, but the rest of the way was okay. Thank the lord I train in TKD...

Next, MORE climbing with the ropes, and then jungle trekking, and then more climbing, either upwards or downwards...

The last part was just a crawl under these logs and it was really wet and really cold...at least the pain in my elbows were numbed by the cold water. When we finally made it through, we get to play in the river! I don't think there were any leeches because my friend accidentally tasted the water and she said it's salty. Xp But there was only one leech case, small bite on a girl's leg, just above her ankle.

And then, the nightwalk, or night-climb, through the forest, in pitch darkness. We weren't allowed to bring a flashlight... _|_ crazy coaches...
So I followed my friends, brought up the rear because they trust my capability to steady others when they slip. I could practically feel my sweat coming in rivulets. My jacket and t-shirt were absolutely soaked through, but at least I didn't slip or fall. Whew... So at the end of the whole climb, we still had to gather and wait for the stragglers. Some of them almost got lost...how, I have no idea.

The next morning...it was 5am, everyone had to start preparing and gather at the hall, but it was easier said than done. The temparature in the morning is freezing!! Grr...(I don't brr...my teeth were chattering)...But I should have more endurance since I've stayed over with my cousins before and woken up at earlier hours to help them set up their morning market stall.

We ate, and had to trek the forest for the THIRD time... Ye unmerciful gods... Without a rope this time, except when necessary, like at the little waterfall, the whole place was muddy and shit... I had never hugged so many trees at once before, but I was lucky enough not to slip and slide down the hill...I guess the gods can be merciful once in a while. Good thing I didn't hug the trees that had thorns jutting from all over...even in the leaves.

So, we learned a lot in the second camp, like the chicken dance, how to walk the cat walk in your TKD uniform, and traditional malay line-dancing...bleh...

There was actually a prefect camp before the Ulu Langat camp, but it was already too late for me as I have already been registered under the UL camp for the TKD club.

I guess that's about all of everything that's been worth telling =) I think...

Oh yes, the choir musical drama could well perhaps be Malaysia's first ever! Successful one anyway. The drama teacher had done like, two more previously, but both failed...what's more both were teams full of adults...and we're just kids and teenagers...so imagine all the bragging...I have to do my part in it too *muahahaha* Okay, enough of that...

Concert's on October 18th and 19th at KLPAC (Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre) =D Hope lots of people will come!
I don't need to worry about how to get there because transport is provided for us, my mom needs to know though, if she can come...

 Roadmap

Or you could get some more useful information like public transports to take to get there.
Linky

Still my obsession... :3
This one is pure pwn as well, just that the piano isn't...

Installation Day

  • Jul. 24th, 2008 at 2:53 PM

Yesterday, after school, was the Installation Day for the Interact Club. Ah, the Board just gets younger with each generation. Our president's only form 4 (the past president got lazy and left...)

Anyway, the ceremony was semi-formal, Metro KL Interact President Kent, Immediate Past President Mr. Eric and Rotarian Mr. Jeyaraj came. Our teacher advisor as well, but she kind of (to me anyway) seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else... :s)

Anyway, president (also my classmate :P) had to give like, two speeches (yay FJ!) and then President Kent gave his speech, and then came the collar pin giveaway to the new Board of Directors (which I'm part of) :D

Vices (except for vice pres.) aren't given these pins (aw...) but they do get an Interact pin that's...according to the traditional colours of interact! The clearer and bolder, blue collar pins!...Okay, enough with the drama...

So, president goes up to get hers first and she'll be the only one getting it from President Kent, the rest will get theirs' put on by her.
Vice pres. follow, then secretary, and treasurer.
Now for the BoD to get on.
Club service Director, I.U. (International Understanding) Director, Finance & Funding Director and Community Service Director ("Last but not least"...thanks Sanji)

Here's my pin! :)
For the ones that aren't Directors like the treasurer or secretary or president (umm, president I'm not really that sure, didn't get a chance to peek) the top doesn't have DIRECTOR on it, their title/job is put accordingly at the bottom.

I kinda feel a little full of myself...
Lalala...~
Well, pictures were taken, my face just didn't feel like grinning, so I just stuck with a smile...but even that was failing me, and I kept faltering in it...

The japanese are aliens, come to earth to reign over us with their awesome piano skills!! Agree with me!!
AAaaaaa---brick'd-
Well, I'm still trying to search and find out who the player is O_O
Any help?

Ah, and today, my mom, my brother and I exchanged cupboards in my room (the positions anyway), so now I have a bigger cupboard beside me for my convenience. First thing that goes on the top shelf...books :P

New lessons

Your Vocabulary Score: A

Congratulations on your multifarious vocabulary!

You must be quite an erudite person.

Yay, an A... :s and the only thing I didn't get afterwords...was erudite, but my guess was a lucky one: "scholarly?"
I looked it up with Amanda and she was like, "whoa..." and started mock-worshipping me...(she got a C-) I poked her, "enough with that" and we continued to watch Nabari no Ou...(<--current favourite manga, dunno if I like the anime much though :S)

Okay, on to my life updates:

I brought my mom with me last Saturday to Saxon School to check out their choir, but it turns out that the choir teacher that time will be one from the US, he's awesome. So, due to his schedule, the choir was postponed to 5.30pm.

Miss P.Lim told me that I can join the choir with them because they need more people, plus, it's free xD
So there I was, fooling around with one of their pianos when I heard someone playing Chopin's Heroique Polonaisse on the grand piano. Awesome.... Miss Lim pulled me up to meet the choir teacher and he tested me out.

Him, "Louder..." *continues to play scales*
Me, "Ah, ah, ah, AH, ah ah, ah..."
Him, *plays lower notes* "Yes, louder!"
Me, *practically yells* "Ah, AH, AH, AH, AH, Ah, ah..."
Him, *stops playing* "Okay, you're alto."
Me, "...okay" *shrugs*

My sister's a soprano :)

Okay, so the choir's filled with little kids, mostly girls and a 6 "3" guy who's going to sing bass and he's from FGA, KL as well :D (the only church I attend, I'm quite fond of it)
The lyrics are...from Les Miserebles' At the end of the Day.
(really, why make the kids sing this, and the concert's in Oct 26th...I think)

-In F minor-
At the end of the day you're another day older,
and that's all you can say for the life of the poor.
It's a struggle, it's a war,
and there's nothing that anyone's giving,
one more day standing about,
what is it for?

One day less to be living,

At the end of the day, you're another day colder,
and the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill.
And the righteous hurry past,
they don't hear the little ones crying,
and the winter is coming on fast,
ready to kill,

one day nearer to dying.

-In F major- :s
At the end of the day there's another day dawning,
and the sun in the morning is waiting to rise.
Like the waves' crash on the sand,
like (like) a storm that'll break any second.
There's a hunger in the land,
there's a reckoning still to be reckoned,
it's us who'll have to pay
at the end of the day.

-E-flat major or C-minor-
There was a time when men were kind,
when their voices were soft and their words were inviting.
There was a time when love was blind and the world was a song
and the song was exciting.

There was a time.
Then it all went wrong.

Well, that's what my manuscript says...I've never heard this musical before, but I'm sure it's going to be on one of my favourites list :)

Ah, and there's also my new lessons: I'm taking up the western flute starting august (after the first week, because the teacher's coming back from australia, boy, what timing)

Miss Lim said that I can join their orchestra because they're short on flutists and my mom thinks I could maybe earn a little extra on the side? :3 Well, since I'm already trained with the chinese (or eastern... :S) flute, my mom and I were like, why not?

Oh yes, and my mom's take on the school was very positive. xD She likes the fact that there's a cafe in Saxon rather than having to go outside where there are all these strangers waiting outside at the bus stop...and the 'mamak' is right next to the bus stop...
So she gives me permission that I can hang out at Saxon, do homework etc? :D

That day, I hung out from 3.35 to 9.20pm, after the choir practice, I noticed a lot of people were there, and the tables and chairs that was near the grand piano had been moved down the stage (I guess it's considered a stage even though it's just one step up). And when I joined the audience, a (seems to be) college teen walked up, set up her scores and started playing, she was awesome. Later I found that she's a Grade 7 student, and she's nice :3

A lot of other kids went up to play what they've learned in the week and some of the other teens and kids played pieces they've prepared for their upcoming exams. Good luck, y'all! xD

Well, Miss Lim ushered me up next...O_O" so I had no choice, since there was no one else and everyone was looking at me with these expectant looks...so I walked up and played Pachabel's Canon in D...I hope it didn't turn out embarassing or anything, coz' I hit the wrong note at the end (minor mistake actually, the song wasn't ruined, thank God) but when I got off the stage, no one clapped...O_O!"" *panic inside* But some of the kids came over and complimented that I played really well (thank you, thank you!) and that it did seem strange that no one clapped (considering that the other kids, whether they made mistakes or not, got applause), but after some "careful" observation with the others, I've concluded that everyone had ordered dinner from the cafe and were too busy eating to applaud.

Miss Lim later gave me a RM5 coupon (for everyone who performed on the grand piano, weekly thing) to use for only that day so get dinner, but since I already filled up on treats, I gave the coupon to my mom.

Ah yes, the entertainment for the night was a female vocalist named Yvonne and her partner, a male vocalist, keyboardist and guitar player, KK....strange, huh? But then, there's that JJ guy.

Well, that's all (finally, I know)
Ja!

P/S: TKD grading in less than 3 weeks...

Hmm...

  • Jun. 26th, 2008 at 8:25 PM

My results are extremely horrendous...

On my mind:
I really want to transfer from school and enroll in the music school behind my secondary school... The building looks so nice and the inside is even better, great environment for the kids and teens.

They offer tutoring for all subjects from UPSR all the way up to STPM, really interesting way of tutoring as well. :)
And the information lady there was so nice to me, she even gave me a lift back home (because the walk from the flats there to my house is quite a distance...I managed to accomplish it three thrice though xD)

I told her I really want to focus fully on my music studies and she said that the school can come up with a really amazing proposal for my parents/guardian, anything to let me get in. She also invited me to their trials, meet the teachers and the choir, and, if I can make it next week, the orchestra.

And today also marks the first time I played on a grand piano, Young Chang brand (same as the one in my house) =D -excited- First thing that came into my mind was Mozart's piano sonata no.8 K310, First Movement Allegro xD Thanks, nee-san again for the mp3 and the score. Sorry for troubling you with my sudden whims xD

Anyway, I'm going there again tomorrow and on Saturday to meet the cello teacher there and the choir. They even have a bath upstairs, the lady said I can use it if I plan to come straight from school. So nice! I feel like I live there already  >:3

Apparently, the lady said she had two more students (one Form 4 like me, and another 14 years old) who came to her with the same request: Dedicate themselves fully into musical studies. Whew, I'm not the only one. Wish I could meet them though :3

Ah, and they don't just teach various instruments and school subjects (that I am actually given a choice of which one to learn), they also teach extra stuff like Ballet, Hip-hop, Yoga, Wu Shu, and Arts & Crafts for the kids. =D

It may sound all too good to be true for me, but I am still restricted by parent's/guardian's decision... T_T

The fees are also amazingly reasonable, if there is such a term xD Man, first time I went there and I've already fallen in love with the school. My brother went there with some friends once to check it out last month, when it was newly established (previously known as Sempurna...something), and thanks a lot for not mentioning all the vital details, or even asking for it. Of course, he knows that I want to study pure music real bad, but he doesn't exactly know how bad xD

Playing: Back to playing 9Dragons
Listening: Shadow of Collossus OST
Reading: Inkheart - Cornelia Funke
Doing: Physics peka (project thing...mundane...-rolls eyes-

My First Entry on LJ

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 2:42 PM

Yay, I finally got a LJ blog and I don't know what to do with it...oh wells.
I'll begin by keeping people (who care) updated xD

For TKD, I got my results and certificate last Saturday, now I'm a brown belt! Jubilations! Most of my grades got above average, no double promotions though...ah well. Need to work on my sparring.

For art, drew a bunch of character drafts for my hobby manga, my classmate wouldn't let go of them until she read every bit of it, pointers, labels and all.

For music, I'm obsessed with Franz Liszt's La Campanella (Etudes de Pagnini), but I'll have to get my fingers to grow a few more centimeters so that I don't look so pitiful when I try to reach the chords on time...
Getting the hang of Chopin's Op. 9 No. 2 Nocturne, but my eyes tend to stray from the manuscript... :s

For literature...I wrote a really bad crack on a contest option on
Slinkers' DA site.
...I won't put it up because it may sometimes rhyme, but with the stupidest reasons and the most random words I can think of... xD
A fifth Hogwarts House...fun!

Reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, my friend Carmen lent it to me :) Thankies Carmen! <3

Right now, I'm back to playing RO and doing a bunch of quests to motivate me to train up or something. Once I'm done with that I'll have to work on the other characters...sigh...
Aren't they cute...
Caramell Dansen, previous favourite song xD

So...I guess that's about it...
Until next time, I leave you in your confusing excitement! =D
